Relationship Therapy and Intervention

Relationship Intervention and Communications

When couples call for therapy, they are usually in distress and frustrated to the point of feeling helpless and sometimes hopeless. “Please fix us,” is typically the first request I hear. I will not tell you that I can fix you, but I will tell you there is always possibility. I can provide guidance on where your emotional connection has broken down, or more likely, what is still yet to be discovered…Relationships can be saved and strengthened if both parties are willing to show up and be vulnerable, empathetic and judgment free.

Most people who start some kind of couples therapy feel stuck in the same painful patterns. Perhaps you can relate. Does it seem like you and your partner speak entirely different languages sometimes? Or do you dread your conversations now so much that you either avoid them altogether or you give up trying to get what you want. Sometimes this helplessness results in yelling, name calling and a whole bunch of crazy-making.

Having arguments and disagreements are not signs that a relationship is trouble. The sustainability of the relationship depends really on how the couple fights and resolves issues. Therefore, learning how to effectively communicate is of utmost importance. To be able to do that, however, requires a deeper understanding of yourself and your partner.
